Crossroads Community Serve Sunday (Sunday, May 26)

Matthew 5:14-16 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Option 1: Vedder River Park Clean up and Free Snack/Drink hand outs

What to know and expect: For this option, meet at the Vedder River Park (45450 Petawawa Rd) for 10:30am and meet as a group there. Look for Pastor Kyle and Pastor Anne as they will be heading up this option. Once together, we will give out garbage bags/picker sticks and give further instructions for the flow of the morning.

After cleaning up some garbage, we will be giving out some snacks and drinks on the trail/park area. We will be giving people a FREE drink/snack and a warm smile as they go by. Maybe even a “hello” a “Have a great day” and see where the conversation might go!

For the kids: We envision the kids helping pick up some garbage for a short amount of time with parents and then Pastor Anne will have a table set up where kids can color, make an awesome rock craft and even help hand out drinks/snacks if they wish. Plus the playground is right there 

Our time will end at 11:30am. Feel free to hang out and grab a coffee together after at the park!

What to bring: Dress for the weather, gloves, snacks to give out, camping chair, a great attitude!

Option 2: Putting together care package packs for those in need at VMS in the multi-purpose room.

What to know and expect:  We will meet at Vedder Middle School at 10:30am to assemble kits that people can keep in their cars. These kits will be to hand out to homeless people as they encounter them, as a blessing from Crossroads. The plan is to assemble 100 kits. People involved can take as many kits as they like, and leftovers will be available for others at the office or on the following Sunday. We will also get a little training on how to administer the overdose medication Narcan, as a nasal spray, and instructions on how to get the kits from your pharmacy. There will be cards and pens so that people can write little words of encouragement from Crossroads, for the kits. We also envision having a little teaching time on how and why people end up in difficult situations and how to care/love them best.

Our time will end at 11:30am. Feel free to hang out and continue to chat!

For the kids: There will be nursery available in the multipurpose room and kids can also help put the kits together. We will also have supervised gym time available for kids to play and run around in after assembling the kits.

What to bring:  Please bring some new socks to include a pair of socks in each kit and a great attitude!
