Matthew 5:14-16 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We are excited about the future of our church and want to introduce a new ministry initiative: Crossroads Community Serve Sundays. We believe this aligns with our vision and the unique qualities of Crossroads.

Crossroads Community Serve Sundays will occur three times a year—in spring, fall, and winter. Instead of our usual worship service, we will offer 2-3 service opportunities for individuals and families, including options for kids and those with mobility issues. This initiative responds to Crossroads desire to engage in community service and aims to maximize participation for as many people as possible.

Our goal is not only to serve the community, but also to deepen connections within our church family. Serving together tends to foster closer relationships and provides a new way to get to know each other!

Additionally, these Sundays may be more inviting for friends or newcomers who might feel hesitant about attending a traditional Sunday worship service. Imagine inviting someone to join in activities like cleaning up a riverbank, making care packages for the homeless or serving a pancake breakfast to the neighborhood. We hope to create another enviorment where people can get to know us and what our church is about. We continue to hope to become known in Chilliwack for this unique expression of Sunday "worship" and our care for our community.

There are several more reasons for this initiative:

  • It gives our musicians, sound team, kids' zone team, and preachers a break, allowing them to rest and recharge.
  • It offers a different form of worship and spiritual exercise, fostering growth as followers of Jesus.
  • We believe Sunday is the best day for this, as past attempts on other days had lower attendance.
